The So Called Leonore Overture No. 3 Is Chronologically The Second Of The Series And Arguably The Most Played Of Beethoven's Overtures. Already In His Lifetime, She Sounded Not Only In The Theater, But Also In Concert, And Thus Founded The New Genre Of Concert Overture With The Coriolan And The Egmont Overture. Recognized As A Masterpiece In The Mid 19th Century, It Became The "Declared Favorite Of All Orchestras", According To The Testimony Of Beethoven's Biographer Anton Schindler. It Now Appears As A Study Edition Based On The Score Of The Beethoven Complete Edition With A Specially Written Foreword.
