The History of the Bass Guitar

The first electric bass was invented by George Beauchamp in 1884. It was called the "electric violin" because it sounded similar to an acoustic violin. In 1925, Leo Fender created his first electric instrument, which he named the "Fender Esquire." This model became known as the "Bassman," and eventually evolved into the iconic Fender Precision Bass.
