Some of the finest, most creative guitar players who ever lived played left handed. In years past, though, if you were a lefty you had to get yourself a right-handed instrument and flip it over. Some players would re-string the guitar for left-handed playing, and others just literally played it “as-is” — upside down. It wasn’t a bad idea, since you could then pick up any guitar and play it; left-handed guitars were relatively rare. But nowadays many more top-quality instruments are made in left-handed versions, with body features and controls in the correct spots. And why not? Being a southpaw shouldn’t mean you have to make do with a right-handed instrument.
